One Direction was and still is one of the greatest boy bands of all time. They have had numerous number one songs, from “What Makes You Beautiful” to “Drag Me Down.” They are an amazing band and deserve all of the fame that they have today. Before we go into the explanation for why they should get back together, we need to talk about who they are and where they came from. These will be very short descriptions, so feel free to skip them if you would like.

Age: 29 Nationality: English Harry Edward Styles is an English singer and actor. He was born on February 1, 1994, in Redditch, United Kingdom to Anne Twist and Desmond Styles. He auditioned on X-Factor in 2010 while singing the song “Hey Soul Sister.” He was able to get through the first round. |

Age: 30 Nationality: English Liam James Payne is an English singer. He was born on August 29, 1993, in Wolverhampton, United Kingdom. He first auditioned on X-Factor in 2008 but was not given the chance to continue on. He later auditioned again in 2010 and was able to pass and move on to become part of the band. |

Age: 30 Nationality: English Zayn Javadd Malik was born on January 12, 1993, in Bradford, United Kingdom. He is an English singer who professionally only goes by his first name, Zayn. He auditioned as a soloist in 2010 for X-Factor, but he warmed everyone’s hearts as he became more open and was able to be part of the band. |
Now that we know a little bit about them, let's go into why this amazing band should get back together.
One Direction is a band that broke the world when their song “What Makes You Beautiful” came out. This led them to immediate fame as they skyrocketed through the charts and into every young girl’s heart. I was one of those young girls when I first heard them. I immediately gravitated towards Niall because to me he looked like the cutest one in the band. I loved every single song and album that they released, and I literally had them on repeat all day every day.
There is one huge reason why they should get together: they would quite literally break the world. If we look at it from a larger point of view: there are many teenagers and adults who still love them. There are so many young girls today who try to act older than they are because they do not have people their age to be fascinated with or delusional about. One Direction was the band that helped all of us girls to remain children and have great memories. If One Direction got back together, there would be young girls who would finally act their age and be kids for a bit. They should also get back together because we want to see how they matured and what life would be like with them together again, kind of like the Jonas Brothers. It is ultimately their choice in the end, but every Directioner wants this reunion to happen.

Even though I want them to get back together, we have to bring up the fact that they were mistreated throughout their time in the band. The ones who suffered the most were Liam, Zayn, and Niall. My reasoning for this: Liam was the member who developed a drinking problem from a young age. This ultimately ended up hurting his mental health and made him lose the light that he once had in his eyes. We can also see that Zayn had horrible mental health because he had so much pressure on him to be the perfect singer and hit every single high note in the songs. We finally turn to Niall, who always had his mic turned down so that we couldn't hear his voice. There are videos where Louis sings into his and Niall’s microphone and then into his own to show how much they had turned Niall’s down. At one point, Niall hurt his leg and was in a lot of pain. Instead of postponing the concert they had that night, management decided to turn down his microphone so that we could not hear the pain in his voice.
Although these five innocent men were mistreated, Niall and Liam have always advocated for the band to get back together. I hope that one day they will be able to become a band again, but in the meantime, I really hope that they have successful solo careers.
