If you’re reading this article you’re here for either two reasons:
1. The title caught your attention
2. You seriously needed a guide
If you’re here for the first reason, great! That means I’m probably good at titles. If you’re here for the second reason, you are most likely the reason I’m writing this in the first place. Either way, read on

1. Not Get Them Anything for Valentine’s Day
Most people like to be gifted stuff on Valentine’s Day, that goes without saying. Gifts can vary from person to person, but the thing that matters most is that you know your person. Love languages exist for a reason—because people are going to like things differently. If your partner loves notes, they would be content with receiving one that day. If your partner says they’d like you to post them on your story, then you should do it. (I know everyone has different situations, but I’m speaking in general here.) It’s not difficult to let someone know they are loved and cared for. No matter what it is, get them something. YOU CAN ALSO HOLD THE EXPECTATIONS TOWARDS YOUR PARTNER, TOO.

2. Be Ungrateful to What They Give You
Now I feel like this is a very general rule to everything. When you receive a gift, you should be thankful regardless of whether you like it or not. Maybe they don’t have money to get you something good, or their situation is messy right now, but it’s always important to take their situation into consideration. There’s a difference between someone not caring and not being able to show how much they care. Again, a note would suffice if you were that type of person but not everyone is. You might want a rose, chocolates, and a teddy bear, so receiving a letter might make you feel let down. This varies from situation to situation, of course.

3. Break Up with Them
Seriously, who would do this? Not only are you breaking up with them, but you’re doing it on the day of LOVE. Breaking up with anyone on any type of special occasion is truly heartless, especially if you do it early on in the day. If this has happened to you, I’m deeply sorry. Just keep these things in mind; Don’t feel too bad about losing them because why else would they do that on Valentine’s Day if not to make it sting some? Never let someone like that ruin such a special day for you! Be sad if you want, but don’t drown in your own sorrows. There are better people out there who would never do this to you. Back to the main point, this should’ve gone without saying but there are people out there who seem to lack common sense.

4. Try to Get Back With Them the Same Day
I physically sighed as I began typing this. Once again, this should go without saying but people seriously do this. You have to have an insane level of audacity to do this to someone. Not only did you choose to break up with them, but you expected them to say yes to you after that? And not only that, but you’re basically BRIBING them back? I have no words for someone like that. My respect can go from 100 to 0 in a split second if you ever muttered to me that you did this. If you break up with someone on Valentine’s Day, don’t try to play it off like nothing happened because it did and you don’t get to shake it off.

5. Do it All Over TEXT
I sighed even more at this one. I get if you’re shy, I get if you’re socially anxious, etc. But, you owe your partner at least a face-to-face conversation, don’t you think? Let them see how you truly feel rather than typing a (probably) fake and sad text where you’re reaching for pity points.

Final Words
You might’ve been thinking: “Wow, that’s kinda really specific!” Surprise! This was all from personal experience. Valentine’s Day rolled around the corner this year, and I was feeling really petty. This was all from personal experience, don’t take too much to heart. Except for the last three. Don’t. Ever. Do. That.
