I love peppermints, which is an odd love, according to my mother. My top three candies of choice have a downside in my mother’s eyes: Peppermint (literally just a mint), Candy Corn (Sugary wax), and Peanut M&M’s (She’s allergic to peanuts). But despite her very loud criticisms, I adore peppermints. Sometimes during the winter season, I get a bit carried away getting peppermint bark, a ginormous bucket of soft peppermints, and 4 boxes of candy canes; all of which I eat in their entirety by the end of December. Yes, I have a problem, and no, I will not fix it.
December is the time for overindulgence with Christmas and winter festivals, which I absolutely adore. Fun and festive are the main words in anyone's vocabulary this time of year. Happiness literally envelopes everyone everywhere. But sometimes I get so tired. Tired of joy, tired of festival events, and even tired of peppermints. I know, a crazy statement, seeing as I literally said I obsess over them. But I think everyone gets tired eventually; it's basically a phase of life.
Here’s how I see phases of life:
- calmness/tranquility
- Getting hype
- Hit the peak of joy
- Tired and absolutely exhausted
So yeah, I'm absolutely tired and exhausted. On the bright side of all this exhaustion, though, I will eventually reach a state of tranquility. God, I cannot wait for that tranquility. And when I eventually mellow out, I’ll get some peppermints to celebrate.
