What is it that dies when a heart stops beating?
What is it that leaves the human flesh
Cold and hard like the rocks it will turn into
That will crumble to ash
Where in the body is it kept?
In the eyes
In the mind
Or in something as minuscule and pathetic as a hair strand
What do the heavens take from us in due time
And return to Mother Nature
How is it so that someone can no longer be found
In every corner of a room
Every star in the sky
Every artery of a heart
Is it a vast emptiness where these souls are stored
Like an exhibition
What if you don’t walk into the light
And sit in the darkness
Like a temperamental child
Will you suffer the wrath of God
Will you be dragged down by Cerberus
Will you met the Prince of Darkness
In fact I do speak
That I truly believe
None shall happen
For in my due time
I will stay like a weed
And hold on to the rest
Refusing to have my stone cold hand removed from theirs
And to the soil I will return
For only this way will the unjust world of man rid themselves of the inextinguishable fire
That I find in every gas star
Every forgotten corner
Every drop of blood
Every eye of water
Forgotten all
In their due time.
What is it that leaves the human flesh
Cold and hard like the rocks it will turn into
That will crumble to ash
Where in the body is it kept?
