i’m an artist
a lot of the art i make isn’t music
and i know people like to call rappers poets but i swear i’m a poet not a rapper
i just wrap all my emotions up in this cute little package to make it sound better
and my emotion right now….is wrapped in a cute lil red ribbon with the wrapping paper
there’s a couple tears in it but it’s cute nonetheless
it goes against what i said in the beginning 
“i won’t sweat her”
but here i am drenched in it like i worked out
we said we would work it out
but we just dispersed now
for a minute i put the pen down to collect my thoughts but now you got me sending letters like a pen pal
we were closer than that?
i be forgetting now
where you been before me and where you been now cause you kinda checked out
why you acting weird 
is it something i did now?
why you won’t tell me what’s going on?
i keep telling you to let it out
tell me everything
no matter if the gift is pretty
i know you an artist too n shi
i know you got yo music and shi
it’s all cute and cool and groovy and shi
but i still don’t expect you to have bow on the present
i just ask for your presence and a little bit of effort
if you let me,
i can help you put my present together
but begging you for the present at all is like begging for us to be together
there’s too much wrong with that
and not enough right with it
let me figure all this out
imma get back right wit ya
let me get all these emotions out
make ‘em sit pretty in a gift bag
i don’t even know why i’m doing that
but while i’m doing that
you can do the same thing with yours
it don’t gotta be perfect but you said you cared
so it’s time to start proving that
