Will you notice?
when my scent no longer lingers in the wind
When my books are gone and read
My music sang and rehearsed
When my warmth leaves you, freezing
When my light leaves a darkness in your soul
Will the piece of your heart that I took ache?
As it beats in my hand, will your piece beat in unison?
Or will it be as if I was never here
Perhaps, I should be humane, and leave no trace behind
To save you the suffering
But will it make you heave in pain more?
Will people notice the parts of me, embedded in you
Will our inside jokes haunt you?
Will my cooking poison your insides slowly?
Until the inside of you bleeds out
Will you see the blood, and realize mine runs red, as red as yours.
I’ll wander as a ghost, forever stuck, forever cold
That will be your penance
Every corner you turn,
Every train you take,
You’ll feel my presence,
But I won’t be there
That will be your damnation
My eyes will live in the eyes of every person you see
But you will never look at them again
I will age and grow and you will stay here,
Searching for the person you lost
Every piece of my soul will live in your past
No matter how intensely you wish me in your future
The absence of my existence will force you to recall my chapter of your life,
eternally.
