I love you

creative writing: poetry

trey sherrod, november 2022

Apologize and a thousand lies later do it again
Look me in the eyes and tell me everything I want to hear
Whisper “I love you” in my ear
Tell me you love me even though I’m nothing to you
It’d mean the world to me if you even cared enough to say something when I’m blue
And I have to be immortal by the end
Because if I die by your hand and we don't get to stay on this planet together forever I might lose my s***
I'm sorry that I’m such a b****
But you are too
And two negatives make a positive while we’re wrong as two left shoes, I’m right for you
I’d die for you
It sounds obsessive because you don’t like me too
But you control my universe
On my own little planet you are my moon
You’re more important to me than shoes
Or food
It’s nothing you could do that could stop me from loving you
I know I’m fool
And in a sick way I think I might like this
It’s kinda exciting
I kinda enjoy the fighting
I keep laying myself at your feet begging for mercy just for you to hurt me
Like you haven’t proven time and time again you aren't worthy
I put our love up on my back like a last name on a jersey and I wore it proudly
Even though I knew people would clown me
Because you talk down on me constantly
Still I’m willing to forgive because I miss your soft voice in my ear
And the spark when we’re near
And I know it isn’t love this ain’t how it’s supposed to feel
But this is the only love I know
Even though it isn’t real I’m gonna accept it because it’s the only thing I’ve been shown
