I love cabbage. It’s not my favorite vegetable, but it is very close. Now, I’m not going to give you a bunch of health benefits because that is boring and lame. It’s time to spice things up--see what I did there!
Cabbage is so fun to eat. I eat it with a fork, chopsticks, and hot sauce. In my household, cabbage is a side to things like cornbread and pot roast. However, I could eat the cabbage all by itself. Sometimes I put hot sauce on it when I’m feeling like I need a little Red 40 in my life--please be better than me. I could also eat it plain because it is seasoned very well. I love how the cabbage can vary in softness. Some of the cabbage can be crunchy soft and still have the boiled lettuce-y feel, while some have the texture of greens. Cabbage is versatile, in my opinion.
Cabbage is the closest I will get to Kimchi. Kimchi has some cabbage--if not mostly--cabbage. I would see people making kimchi on Instagram, and I fell in love. I know kimchi won’t taste like how I think it would taste if I got it from the local grocery store down the street. And I don’t have the patience, sadly. I just love saucy things like pasta, pizza (yes, pizza), Buffalo Wild Wings, or butter chicken. Also, the only kimchi I can get is from Walmart, and I’m not selling myself out like that.
I like to eat a lot. Cabbage is the best for me because it's lightweight. I can’t eat heavy foods for too long. That sounds weird, but hear me out. I don’t like eating large quantities of sugar, meat--excluding fish, and starch. For example, I don’t like cake that much because of its starch and sugar. Yes, at a party or anywhere else appropriate, I would eat it because I like to eat. However, I have had a cake that was more “lightweight” like tres leches, which I have profound love for. Eating large quantities of tuna or salmon is fine because it feels lighter to me. Cabbage is best because it is a vegetable, and I can eat it without feeling full after the first bite.
Cabbage will forever be my second favorite vegetable!
