Lake Geneva has several attractions that draw people from all over the country. Ice castles, skiing, snowboarding-- you name it. Winter at Lake Geneva is absolutely magical, filled with activities that everyone can enjoy. But what I didn't know about Lake Geneva before visiting for the first time was that they have a downtown area, filled with a bunch of cute shops. Think, Hallmark Christmas, or small-town girl who's never been on a plane before. It's gorgeous, and there are so many things to buy!
Two stores, in particular, stood out to me: Brick & Mortar Home and Outdoor and Comic Alley.
Brick & Mortar was a super cute, very aesthetically pleasing furniture store. I didn’t buy anything (obviously), but it was really nice to just look around. They carried rocks with cute and funny sayings on them, as well as picture frames and book covers with quotes by famous people (debatable). The owner was also super helpful and fun to make conversation with. There was actually a quote on a picture frame that said that it was by Abraham Lincoln, and we joked about it. A few minutes later, she found us again after having done some research and told us that the quote was not, in fact, by Abraham Lincoln. a really good time looking through the store, and the staff was wonderful.

Comic Alley is shoved under a clothing store called “Lola’s,” which was incredibly on- brand for a comic book store. There were stairs leading down into the store, which was in the basement, and the entire place was filled to the brim with comic books. The owner was helpful and very funny, and he knew all of his comics very well. I ended up buying the first two issues of “Absolute Carnage,” a Venom comic, as well as the first issue of “Ironheart,” which I was really excited about. This is exactly what I pictured a comic book store to look like, and the owner made navigating the somewhat intimidating ordeal of buying my first comic books relatively painless. I loved this store as well.
Downtown Lake Geneva had plenty more stores that I went to, as well, and they were all pretty nice. I’d definitely recommend that you visit if you get the chance. It’s picturesque, exciting, and has a lot to look at!
