What makes a person?
What defines someone
What said thing or things tell you how someone is
How do you determine someone’s personality
When are you sure you know a person in their entirety
When can you say you know their character
How do you separate their accomplishments and their mistakes
What makes them, them?
Is it the things that they’ve done in the past?
Shall they be judged on things that they’ve done regardless of how far back
How will you know if they’ve changed
How can you believe it, especially if all you have to base it on is what you’ve seen
How can someone grow if they’re confined by their past
Who are you to tell them who they are?
Do you trust one to tell you who they are for themselves or do you allow others to do so for you
Some say, allow one to show you who they are but then are you not just judging them based on what you’ve seen on the surface
Disregarding the reasons for their doing so
So then, how can you tell someone’s character
If not basing it on what they have done what do you do
Should you base it on who they claim to be
No, that may be biased
But who knows someone best if not them?
Truth is, many people don’t even know themselves
Who makes someone, is it how they view themselves or how they’re perceived by others
Do you listen to who they say they aim to be?
Is that what you should believe?
But that’s just all words and no proof
While it can be hoped to be true, it may be a bit naive if you do
What if it turns out to be empty promises
Shouldn’t everyone know actions speak louder than words
Say less, do more
Because what happens when those words aren’t accounted for
Is it counted as enough if they’re trying?
What happens when that trying turns out to not be enough
So then, how do you decide you know who someone really is
If you can’t base it on their past
If you can’t base it on who they aim to be because they haven’t completed the task
How do you know
When do you know
What about them will let you know
Who they really are
What defines someone
What said thing or things tell you how someone is
How do you determine someone’s personality
When are you sure you know a person in their entirety
