BRooks top 5 horror movies & games

Two weeks ago, we sent out a Google Form to the entire school asking for the Brooks public opinion on the best horror movies.

​​Here are the results:

5) Us (Movie, 2019)

Synopsis: Us covers the story of a family whose mother had a traumatic experience as a child, finding a person identical to herself in a house of mirrors. The family is repeatedly attacked by a group of evil doppelgangers in their own images.

Brooks Opinion: Good message and moral of story, creepy atmosphere, and interesting filmmaking.

4) IT (Movie, 2017)

​
Synopsis: IT details a terrifying story about a group of social outcast friends against a shape-shifting clown, trying to uncover the story behind the death of one of the friends’ brothers.

Brooks Opinion: Good creepy atmosphere, rewatchable, funny, and good plot.

3) HALLOWEEN (Series, 1978-2022)

Synopsis: Halloween tells the story of iconic knife-wielding serial killer Michael Myers, a mental patient committed to a sanitarium for killing his babysitter. However, he is able to escape captivity and continues on a murdering spree, terrorizing the town of Haddonfield, Illinois.

Brooks Opinion: Thrilling and enjoyable series, compelling main character, and fun to watch.

2) CHUCKY (Series, 1988-2017)

​Synopsis: A terrifying story following a serial killer whose entire being is transferred into the body of a doll. Throughout the series, Chucky attempts to reunite himself with a human host, and much murder ensues along the way. 

Brooks Opinion: Funny and nostalgic, iconic characters, and memorable story.

​1) THE CONJURING (Series, 2013-2021)

​Synopsis: The Conjuring follows paranormal investigators Lorraine and Ed Warren, called to a run-down farmhouse in Rhode Island to investigate reports of strange, supernatural activity. Unfortunately, things start to go downhill very quickly as the two witness strange, shocking, and demonic events.

Brooks Opinion: Excellent story and plot, interesting history, and real life ties, true nightmare fuel.

#5: The Walking Dead

Synopsis: The Walking Dead is an episodic graphic novel style game in which you take control of various characters throughout the story. As you play, you make life changing decisions that could decide the fate of the story and some characters.  

Brooks Opinion: Well written characters, clashing personalities, fun to play.

#4 Resident Evil 8


​​Synopsis:
Resident Evil 8 is the latest release in the Resident Evil series.  You play Ethan Winters, who has to find his daughter Rose Winters in the cold rural village while also uncovering the mystery behind the mold. 

Brooks Opinion: Excellent antagonist, good atmosphere.

#3 The Quarry

Synopsis: The Quarry is a drama filled interactive horror game that is filled with mystery and comedy. This horror game is more comedic than scary, and the character interaction is very amusing to watch. 

Brooks Opinion: Funny interactions between the characters, good depth and personality, relatability.

#2 Friday the 13th

​Friday the 13th is a multiplayer horror survival game. Eight players have to survive and escape the player playing as Jason through various methods. This game is excellent to play with friends and can be very entertaining.

Brooks Opinion: Cheesy yet hilarious, fun atmosphere, good for playing with friends.

1) Five Nights At Freddy’s

Synopsis: Arguably the most famous horror game of all time, Five Nights at Freddy’s was a game changer for the indie horror community. You play as a security guard taking night shifts at a pizza place, managing resources and trying to survive the animatronics until the morning. 

Brooks Opinion: Deep story and lore behind actual game, terrifying atmosphere, extensive community.
