Blood
Aissa Bocoum, OCTOBER 2025

Blood courses through our veins
Tying families together
Saying blood is thicker than water

Blood splay across the battlefield.
From bloody fields mixed together
Blood gives us life and death.
Death from diseases in blood and war
War breaks family and friends apart.
Ghosts appear that have lost so much blood

Blood gives us the chance to live.
Blood is what we share.
No matter who we are
Blood will outlast us all.
Blood controls us; without it, we are dead.
That we are so dependent on.

War brings losses and death.
But blood wins all deaths.
This is but a game
One that determines who lives

Though the true master is god
Who is the one who controls
Life and death

Blood is mysterious
Giving us traits and bonds with one another
Blood kills us all in the end.
Through diseases or the loss of it
Blood is what is needed.
Blood creates and destroys us all.
